Event: Retreat: Green Sufism.
Facilitator: Neil Douglas Klotz (Saadi).
Venue: Anam Cara, Upper Leachkin, Inverness, IV3 8PN. Scotland.
Dates: Friday 17 - Sunday 19 June 2016 (starts Friday evening 6pm).
Event Description: This weekend retreat focuses on resources from Sufi and Islamic spiritual traditions, particularly a meditation on selections from the "99 Beautiful Names". These invite us into a deeply ecological experience of the human soul and its purpose in consonance with the whole natural world and all beings.
This retreat will also share Sufi practice, teaching stories, chant, sitting meditation, walking meditation, dhikr (remembrance practice) and Dances of Universal Peace. Neil will share practices based on his work in The Sufi Book of Life (Penguin 2005), as well as his subsequent work on "green" themes and practices in the Qur'an, and their earlier expressions in ancient Semitic languages, including in the Aramaic words of Jesus. He will share various approaches to experiencing sacred phrases and meditation in one's own personal practice, no matter what one's spiritual tradition.
Neil is also the author of Desert Wisdom, The Hidden Gospel, The Genesis Meditations and Blessings of the Cosmos. He is the co-founder of the International Network for the Dances of Universal Peace and has shared interfaith and interspiritual retreats around the world for the past 30 years. Under his Sufi name Saadi, he is recognized as a senior teacher in his lineage, a branch of the Chishtia lineage. More information about his work can be found at: www.abwoon.com.
Cost: £235 (fully residential), £205 (camping). Maximum participants: 25.
