Charlotte Lorimer:

Charlotte Lorimer is a writer and curator, based in Edinburgh. In 2022, she co-curated the first exhibition for John Henry Lorimer, her great great uncle, and contributed an essay on the theme of Femininity to the first book dedicated to his work (published by Sansom & Co.).

The same year, she put together a book on her mother Jane, who died on 1st March 2022. The book begins with diary entries written while Charlotte, 26, was caring for her. Each entry uses one of the five senses as a lens - the spread of her cancer had affected them all, changing her in so many ways but never eroding her strength and character. The remainder of the book collects Jane’s recipes, quirks and guidance, as well as letters and further reflections. Jane was a McTimoney chiropractor and nutritionist, someone who did whatever she could to make things better. Charlotte printed copies of the book, A Sense of Jane, for friends and family but it can also be bought here.

FiléDia (Phyllida Anam Aire):
