Event: 2-Day Retreat: Return to Harmony: Six Steps to Spiritual Awakening.
Facilitator: Steve Taylor.
Venue: Main Room, City of Edinburgh Methodist Church, 25 Nicolson Square, Edinburgh, EH8 9BX.
Dates: Saturday 2 - Sunday 3 November 2019.
Time: Registration: 9.30am-10am. Retreat: 10am-5pm.
Event Description: Spiritual psychologist Steve Taylor will highlight several aspects of spiritual awakening, including gratitude, altruism, presence, disidentification from the ego-mind and acceptance. We will cultivate these qualities through meditations, exercises and discussions, gaining contact with the spiritual essence of our beings, and so experiencing a profound sense of peace and harmony. Steve will read several unpublished poetic meditations to illustrate these qualities.
We will also explore the link between presence and creativity, by harnessing our own poetic and descriptive powers. Steve will draw from his new book Spiritual Science, and also his previous books The Calm Center and The Leap. Since the above are the essential qualities of spiritual awakening, by cultivating them we will undergo a process of awakening.
For the last four years Steve has been included in Mind, Body, Spirit magazine’s list of the ‘100 most spiritually influential living people.’ His books include Waking From Sleep, The Fall, Out of the Darkness, Back to Sanity, and his latest book The Calm Center. His books have been published in 18 languages, while his articles and essays have been published in over 40 academic journals, magazines and newspapers.
Eckhart Tolle has described his work as ‘an important contribution to the shift in consciousness which is happening on our planet at present.’ Andrew Harvey has said of his work, ‘Its importance for our menacing times and for the transformation being birthed by them cannot be exaggerated.’ Steve’s new book ‘The Calm Center’ has just been published as an ‘Eckhart Tolle edition’ through New World Library.
Steve has a PhD in transpersonal psychology and lectures at Leeds Beckett University. He lives in Manchester, England, with his wife and three young children
